Tuohy Needle was developed by Dr. Edward B.Tuohy in 1945 for insertion of catheter during Epidural Anesthesia operation. Tuohy needle has its tip bent for smooth insertion of catheter into epidural space, so called Huber Point. Initial Tuohy Needle was very sharp and should have been dangerous.
Huber Point
Huber Needle was developed as a hypodermic Anesthesia needle by Dr. R. Huber, a dentist in Seattle. It looks like a Lancet-Point needle having its tip face bent upwards. This design of the tip is good for use with transfusion port, since it can avoid coring of tissue.
